Installing third-party viewers

File formats for some applications, particularly solid-modeling applications like Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks, are not directly supported by the BlueCielo viewer. If you need to view an unsupported format, a free viewer is often available for download from the application developer’s web site or installed with the application.

Installed with BlueCielo products are a number of registry files that enable support in the BlueCielo viewer for some of the more popular third-party file formats or viewers:

• Autodesk CAD Overlay ESP format
• Autodesk NavisWorks Freedom viewer
• GTX RasterCAD format
• Hitachi Raster format
• Microstation DGN format
• TSL CADRaster format

To install support for a third-party format or viewer:

1. Install the third-party viewer on your computer, if applicable.
2. Using Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\Program Files\<Product Name>\Program\Viewers.
3. Select the registry file that corresponds to the file format or viewer installed on your computer.
4. Double-click the registry file to add its information to your registry.
5. Restart the BlueCielo product if it was running when you installed the registry information.
6. Select a document in the format for which you just installed support. The document should appear in the viewer.

If the file does not display and you have installed a third-party viewer for the format:

1. Right-click in the viewer pane and select Viewer Options. The Viewer Options dialog appears. Under Use Viewers in Order is a list of available viewers. The viewer that you installed should now appear in this list. When attempting to display a document, the BlueCielo viewer tries to use the first viewer in the list. If the first viewer fails, it moves on to the next viewer in the list, and so on.
2. Select the viewer that you installed and move it to the top of the list using the button.
3. Click OK.
